Since the new guys (and girl) are turning two soon and will be heading off for thier initial training we will begin including reports on them as soon as they get started. I will gets some nice pictures of them and post them here. Thanks again for your support of Dee Tee stables.

Rampillion ready

Rampillion worked four furlongs in 51.20 today in the mud at CDT. She was well in hand throughout and is ready for the next scheduled race on January 2nd at Turfway Park.

New date for Rampillion

There is a race for Rampillion in the new TP condition book on January 2nd going 6 furlongs for maiden $15000. We will work her next weekend and keep our fingers crossed that we get in. It would be a nice way to start the new year.

Kickin n Screamin has returned to the track at CDT and there are several races at the end of January that we will be looking at.

Aldebutante is at BEC and is comfortable while awaiting surgery.

Sumwonlovesyou is doing fine and will be returning to the track around the 15th of January.

The Point Given gelding is doing fine and will go into full training after the 1st of the year. The Smarty Jones colt that didnt have colic surgery is going to be broke in a week or so while the other is recovering nicely. The Northern Afleet filly is doing fine and will be going to be broke around that time also.

Aldebutante's bad news and Rampillion

As I'm sure you may have heard by now we had a set back with Aldebutante coming up with a bone chip in her right knee that will require surgery. The injury is something that is not that uncommon in young horses and the surgical and rehabilitation techniques available today make the prognosis for return to racing quite favorable. She should be off about 90 days before going back into training again.

Rampillion worked three furlongs in 36.60 this afternoon at CDT. The track was a little heavy and it was a good move for her. We are still examining options for her next start as we want to get her into the best possible spot.

Kickin n Screamin will be returning to the track tomorrow afternoon and will resume full training hoping to make it back to the races in January.

Aldebutante works well

Aldebutante worked late this morning at CDT going four furlongs in 50.40 over the muddy going. She broke off under a hard hold from Cherie and was smooth going around the turn and switching leads. Aldebutane finished well in the stretch and Cherie did not let her do too much in the gallop out considering this was her first work in a few weeks. She cooled out well and her foot appears to be fine. We are in for some bad weather the next few days in Louisville and she will walk under tack for a few days. Assuming she does well post work we will look to work her again next week.

Friday a possibility

The Turfway Park racing office has put up an extra race for Rampillion for Friday night's card. We enter tomorrow morning for that race and should know around 1 pm if they used the race.

Too many fillies...

Rampillion did not get into the race at Turfway Park for Wednesday the 17th. We were one of 7 horses who did not even make the overnight sheet as entrants or also-eligibles. They did not bring the race back for Thursday though there is a possibility that it will be used next weekend. She will work on Sunday at CDT regardless of when a race appears.

Sumwonlovesyou has not been doing much other than Aqua pacer training lately due to the really cold weather. Her feet have been fine and she is doing well and looking good.

Kickin n Screamin has also been hampered by the poor weather and has been confined to the Aqua pacer. We are now looking at something after the new year for her.

Aldebutante has been fitted with glue on shoes with some sole padding and has returned to training. She has been moving well on the track and we are going forward with her training. She has put on some weight and grow up quite a bit this fall.

Looking towards the new year

Rampillion came out of her race a little banged up, some cuts and scrapes from being stepped on by another horse, but nothing serious. I was displeased with the ride and though the field may have been a little tougher than she can handle at this point, Hebert gave her no shot and more importantly did not teach her anything positive going forward. But she will be ok and the poor finish position gives us the opportunity to drop her in class looking for an easy spot. December 17th at Turfway Park for maiden $15,000 going 6 1/2 looks like a possibility.

Sumwonlovesyou continues to do well in her recovery from the leg and foot injuries. She is staying sound and is eager to do work on both the Aquapacer and under saddle. The chances of her making it back to the races in the spring are looking better every passing day.

Aldebutante has been sound but we are still going to have the specialist look at her foot so we can be certain that she is 100% before going full speed with her. She has put on weight and filled out quite a bit the last six weeks.

Kickin n Screamin is back in training and is going pretty good.

Rampillions plans

I entered Rampillion for two races for Fridays card at Churchill Downs. The races are a $30000 maiden clainer going 1 mile and a $50000 maiden claimer going 6 furlongs. Neither is the perfect spot but she is very sharp and I would rather race her than keep her in the barn awaiting the ideal race.

Sumwonlovesyou has been training at BEC daily alternating between galloping on the turf, the dirt and working on the Aqua Pacer with some days doing a combination of all three. She has been sound and seems very happy to do the work. We will be putting one more specialized shoe on her before putting regular plates back on.

Kickin N Screamin is also back in training and is pointing to a late December return to the races.

Aldebutante continues to have a small problem with her feet and I am going to have the vet/blacksmith that worked on Sumwonlovesyou so sucessfully take a look at her to see what he thinks.

Rampillion on AE's again

I entered Rampillion in a 7 furlong $30,000 maiden claimer for Wednesday the 19th and once again we wound up on the also eligible list. She is training very well and I was hoping that the distance may keep the field size down a little but we were not lucky enough to draw in.

Aldebutante is scheduled to work this weekend but that may be pushed back till Monday due to poor track conditions caused by the rain and cold. She has turned the corner in her training and I am anxious to get her working again.

Sumwonlovesyou and Kickin n Screamin are both doing fine.

Rampillion is good shape

Rampillion came out of her race in good shape and we are looking to maybe squeeze one more race in at Churchill before the meet ends. Though there isn't much scheduled the final week they have been using these types of races as extras and if the weather turns and the turf course gets chopped up we have a better chance of getting a chance to run again. If not I would lean towards Turfway Park or perhaps the Fair Grounds or a longshot possibility of Hawthorne.

Aldebutante has been galloping well and her feet seem to be in good shape despite bouncing them off of Ryan's face while she was clipping her. There is no timetable yet for her though she will probably work next weekend if she continues to progress.

Sumwonlovesyou is also doing well. Paula is going to start riding her around the farm in addition to training on the Aqua Pacer.

Kickin n Screamin is going back in training at the end of the week. She has put on a few pounds and though she never settled in that well the time off did some good for her. I would imagine that the Fair Grounds for $17500 on the turf looks like the spot for her right now though a trip back to Tampa after the new year is certainly a possibility.

Frustration

As you well know if you have been following on Derbytrail.com Rampillion has once again drew on the also eligibles on Wednesday. The odds once again are slim that she will draw into the race and we are now looking at running in the original race we were pointing for on the 12th. Obviously there are options for her if we were to ship but I would really prefer to run her close to home 1st time out because there are enough obstacles for a young horse making her fist start and I prefer not to add shipping to the mix. She continues to train well and we will probably work her again at the end of the week.

Aldebutante is getting shoes put back on her feet tomorrow and has been feeling really good the past few days. We are keeping her on medication for her feet for another 10 days or so but she is ready to start training again.

The other two are doing well at BEC while being turned out.

New plans for Rampillion

Rampillion is very doubtful to draw into tomorrow afternoons race. We will await the official word at 8:00am and are planning on having her work an easy half mile afterwards at 8:30. She wont be asked to do too much as an extra race has been written for Saturday's card and the possibility is strong that the race will be held over to Sunday's card. Ryan will be on her and we aren't looking for much more than four furlongs in about 50 and change. Just enough to keep her on edge.

Aldebutante's feet are still bothering her a bit and we will keep the shoes off of her for a few more days. She has been getting those feet tubbed in hot water and Epsom's salts every morning which she really seems to enjoy.

Sumwonlovesyou and Kickin n Screamin have become paddock buddies with Kickin following Sumwon all over the field. it has seemed to settle her down a bit and Sumwon is doing very well.

Update

Aldebutante worked in 102.20 yesterday at CDT which was the 2nd fastest time at the distance from 10 works. However it wasn't her best effort and this morning her feet were a bit sore which was probably the reason that she was a little sluggish yesterday. We will pull her shoes, soak her feet in warm water and epsom salts and give her a few days off.

Rampillion broke like a rocket from the gate and wound up working in 48 for a half mile. She was originally targeted towards the 12th in a maiden 15,000 race but she worked so well and appears ready to go so we will be entering her in a maiden 25,000 race going 6 furlongs next Wednesday at Churchill. Diego Rodriguez will be riding her.

Works in the morning

Aldebutante is scheduled to work in the morning. We are going to go four furlongs with her and let her gallop out an extra furlong. Rampillion is going to work in company from the gate, going 5 furlongs. There will be reports on the works tomorrow.

Thursday, October 16, 2008

Good day of works

Aldebutante worked really well today, going 49.40 for four furlongs, galloping out in 103. In a steady drizzle that started about the same time she stepped on the track, the filly broke off in hand and responded smoothly when Cherie smooched to her. She cooled out well and seems to be enjoying the cooler weather.

Rampillion worked well also. She worked early in the morning while it was still quite dark out and went with a colt who was going 1/2 mile. She stayed about a length behind the other horse till the rider asked her to move. she went by the horse pretty easily and covered the five furlongs in 102.20. She will do a little more gate work and we will probably sharpen her speed a little but she will be ready to go very soon.

Sumwonlovesyou is doing excellent in the aqua pacer and her foot is healing very well.

Kickin n Screamin is doing fine.

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

Thursday's works

Aldebutante is scheduled to work tomorrow morning going four furlongs if the track is in good shape. Rampillion is also scheduled to work tomorrow going five furlongs. I am skeptical about Aldebutante making the race on the 16th though I will withhold making a final decision until after she works. There is a race on the 11th of November at Churchill Downs going 6 furlongs that looks like Rampillion's main target. Kickin n Screamin has settled in (kind of) at BEC and is spending a lot of time turned out in a small paddock. Sumwonlovesyou is also doing well.

Kickin settles in; Rampillion, Sumwon doing well

Kickin n Screamin looks like she came out of Thursday nights race in good shape. We picked her up this afternoon and brought her out to BEC for a little R & R. She will not do much other than be turned out in a paddock and eat what's left of the grass out there. I don't have any real plan with her right now, just let her settle down and try to get her as happy as we can. She may do a little Aqua Pacer training after a few weeks but I don't want to do much with her right now.

Rampillion came out of her work in good spirits. She really gives 100% all the time and I am impressed with her determination during her training. Hopefully it will carry over to the afternoons. I am really leaning on waiting to Churchill to run her. The condition book should be out next week and we will see what the schedule looks like.

Sumwonlovesyou is really doing well. We got the ok from the vet to turn her out a bit and put her on the water treadmill for some light training. She has some visitors this week as Mr. and Mrs. DDthetide and Mr. Unstable both came out to BEC to see her. I'm sure they will have photos and comments posted on Derbytrail.com as soon as they make it home.

Aldebutate has been asked to do a little more this week in her training. She is gaining weight and her attitude is good though she has an odd fascination with goats. She will work this week and we will proceed from there.

Kickin N Screamin set

Kickin n Screamin is ready for her race Thursday night at Turfway Park. She has post position number 4 out of 11 runners and is listed at 9/2 on the morning line. She will be ridden by apprentice Matt Straight who is a graduate of Chris McCarrons riding academy. PP's are here .

Today's Works

Rampillion went 50.20 from the gate in company with Comeback this morning at CDT. She broke alertly and worked head and head with the colt right to the wire. Rampillion has done very well in her training since she had a few days off due to an inflamed ankle.

Kickin N Screamin went a really easy half mile in 53.40 at Arlington Park. We weren't looking for much from her, just letting her stretch her legs a little before shipping to Keeneland on Saturday morning.

Thursday, September 25, 2008

Kickin n Screamin

Kickin n Screamin is scheduled to work an easy four furlongs tomorrow at Arlington Park before shipping to Keeneland on Saturday. She remains on schedule to run at Turfway Park on Thursday, October 2nd.

Aldebutante is training lightly while we try to build her back up after losing weight during her Belmont trip.

Rampillion is going to work another half mile tomorrow at CDT. We are looking for something around 50 seconds. She is going to go in company with Comeback from the gate.

Aldebutante back in KY

Aldebutante is back in her stall at CDT looking a little tired and drawn from her shipping and racing experience. She will go back to the track on Monday and we are still pointing to the 16th at Keeneland.

Kickin N Screamin is going to ship from Arlington Park to Keeneland next Saturday. She remains on course to run next on the 2nd at Turfway.

Rampillion has been training fine and her ankle looks good. She worked four furlongs in 50.60 this morning with Ryan and did it easily.

Sumwonlovesyou is doing well also.

Aldebutante returns Thursday

Aldebutante is vanning back to Kentucky on Thursday morning. John reports that she came out of the race fine despite the eventful trip. Assuming all is well, we are tentatively pointing her to a race at Keeneland on October 16th going 7 furlongs. The race is on a Thursday and Keeneland takes entries for that day on Sunday. We will most likely give her a work over the polytrack though I don't see that it makes much difference in how they run over it.

Kickin N Screamin is doing fine and is still pointing to the 2nd of October at Turfway as her next race.

The vet checked Sumwonlovesyou's foot today and found that she has shed most of the sole of the injured foot. She is growing a new sole but it takes lots of time.

Rampillion still has a slight bit of pressure in that ankle though we are likely to start her back training if it improves just a tiny bit. She is sound on it and we are taking it slowly as a precautionary measure.

No Luck

We had no luck today as we first lost the turf, then lost our jockey, then had the MTO draw in and then we broke a step slow, then we checked, then we checked again, then we got bumped and then it was over. Racing is a very tough sport. It is hard to evaluate much off of this race as Aldebutante was pretty much screwed from the start and really had a chance to settle and begin a run. The positives are that she got through shipping, the holding barn, the paddock and into the starting gate with no problems and she certainly got experience during the race though most of it bad. We will bring her back to KY and evaluate her before we pick our next spot though Keeneland would be a strong possibility. I was at Keeneland for the sale and caught the race on TV with Bill Mott but I hope all that attended at least had an enjoyable experience despite our tough racing luck.

Rampillion still had a bit of fill in her ankle this morning and we will wait another day or two before resuming training.

Aldebutante is in, Rampillion is out

Aldebutante drew post position number 11 in Belmont's 5th race Sunday. The race which is carded for 6 furlongs on the turf is threatened by rain though we will run regardless of surface. Richard Migliore will ride and John Fahy will saddle the filly for us. I know Steve will be there with many of the local DT'ers and some out of towners so check the website to see what the plans are for meeting up. John had her over to the starting gate this morning to get acquainted with the gate crew there and she did great. She will jog tomorrow morning and school in the paddock in the afternoon.

Rampillion had a little swelling in her right ankle and will miss a few days of training which eliminates any chance of making the race on the 20th at Turfway. The vets don't think it is serious, she probably wrenched it which would be more of a sprain than anything. We will see how it looks after a few easy days and reevaluate it. She is not showing much lameness which is a good sign.

Kickin n Screamin came out of her race in good shape and will be pointed to a race at Turfway Park on October 2nd.

Aldebutante arrives in NY

Aldebutante arrived at Belmont this morning just after 7 am. John reported that she looked to have shipped well and was in good shape. We have confirmed that Richard Migliore will ride us in either spot that we land in. Mig is a friend and a veteran rider that will not only give us 100%but will also provide good post-race feedback.

Kickin n Screamin is all set for today's race at Arlington. We need a good trip in a pretty evenly matched field and hopefully leading rider Rene Douglas will provide that.

Aldebutante sharp from gate

Aldebutante broke sharp from the gate this morning under Diego Rodriguez in her final work before her first start on Sunday. She was timed in 35 for three furlongs and galloped out very strong afterwards. After the work she cooled out quickly and we are working on transportation plans to get her to Belmont later this week. She is going to trainer John Fahy's barn at Belmont and will run in John's name as trainer and he will saddle her since I will be busy at the sales this weekend. We have reached out to Richard Migliore and he will definitely ride her if we wind up in the dirt race though my preference right now is to try her on the turf. They will let us know tomorrow if he can be freed up from any commitments in the turf race.

Aldebutante returns to CDT

Aldebutante worked from the gate this morning at Churchill training center, going five furlongs in 103.20. She broke a bit slow from the gate, which Cherie blamed herself for, and went nicely without company. We were hoping for 102 and if she had broke a little sharper she would have probably shaded that. Aldebutante cooled out quickly as though the work had little effect on her. We will work her four furlongs on Tuesday and ship her to Belmont sometime later in the week. We will also do a little more gate schooling with her though that was the only time she has broken slow for us. Once she gets to Belmont she will not need to do much, maybe a little schooling in the paddock.

Monday, September 1, 2008

Rampillion...

Rampillion worked well this morning though the clockers apparently missed a lot of the work, giving her a 38.20 clocking despite her working four furlongs and galloping out fast enough to get credit for another eighth. She broke off outside of Graphite Halo and was going a a good clip passing the 1/2 mile pole. They stayed together through out the work and both galloped out strong. She will work another half mile out of the gate next week, probably on the 6th or 7th.

Everything is good

Everybody is doing great this weekend. Kickin n Screamin is going to work on Tuesday which will be her final work before the race at AP on the 11th. Aldebutante has come out of her work in good shape, Rampillion is going to work tomorrow morning at CD and Sumwonlovesyou is still doing fine as well.

Friday, August 29, 2008

Aldebutante works

Aldebutante worked 5 furlongs in 102.40 this morning at Churchill Downs with Cherie. She broke off under a strong hold and continued eagerly down the backside and into the turn. Cherie let out a notch going past the 3/8th pole and she finished up very well down the stretch looking very sharp while galloping out in around 115 for six furlongs and 129 for seven. She will work another five furlongs next weekend and ship to NY the following week. Aldebutante cooled out well and looks much better than she did two weeks ago. We will take a blood test on her Monday morning just to make sure things are in order but that is strictly as a precaution.

Monday, August 25, 2008

Rampillion works

Rampillion worked 50.60 out of the gate in company with Graphite Halo this morning at Churchill Downs. She broke alertly and went evenly with the other filly. She will work an easy 5 furlongs next week and looks like she will make the September 20th race at Turfway barring any unforeseen mishap.

Sumwonlovesyou's foot continues to improve. We are flushing it with an iodine solution and she is walking normally without any soreness.

Kickin n Screamin is doing fine and looks like she is on target for the 11th. Rene Douglas has been booked to ride her in that race.

Aldebutante came out of her work in good order and will continue on her normal work schedule.

Saturday, August 23, 2008

Aldebutante's work

Aldebutante worked four furlongs in 50.80 at Churchill Downs this morning. Cherie broke her off from the half mile pole under a tight hold, let her pick up the pace passing the quarter pole at the top of the stretch and she finished very well. Aldebutante galloped out strongly after the work and was clocked 5 furlongs in 102.60. She cooled out in good shape and will continue on a normal training program.

Kickin N Screamin worked a slow four furlongs in 54.20 at Arlington Park. We were looking for a slower work than her last two, in around 52 but the rider was a little too cautious. She doesn't need a lot of work so i am not very concerned about the time. She is on track for her next race on September 11th.

Thursday, August 21, 2008

New dates for Aldebutante

September 14th at Belmont Park looks like the best fit for Aldebutante's debut. They have written 2 races for that day for 2 year old filly maidens at 6 furlongs, one on the dirt and one on the turf. Having two races on the same day is good because the fields may wind up diluted a bit and having the turf option at six furlongs is intriguing. We will work her four furlongs this weekend, most likely Saturday then get her two more 5 furlong works before shipping to NY.

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Results back

The results are back from the tests we took on Aldebutante seeking information on her dullness. What they say is that she has a low thyroid count which fits with some of the symptoms that she has been showing. We will add a thyroid supplement to her diet to help raise her levels back to normal. It will be a week to 10 days before we test her again to see how the thyroid is reacting. All in all, this is relatively minor and not that uncommon in racehorses. She will continue to train normally and will probably have a light workout this weekend.

Rampillion works

Rampillion and Graphite Halo worked 4 furlongs this morning at Churchill Downs, covering the distance in 50.80. The work got a little messed up when a out of control horse from Dale Romans split our fillies going to the pole to start the work and Rampillion wound up about 5 lengths ahead of Graphite Halo. Cherie who was aboard Graphite made the best of the situation by tucking in behind the other filly and getting her used to getting dirt thrown in her face which she didn't seem to care for very much. Rampillion basically was on her own and did well though Ryan said she was pretty tired after galloping out.

Aldebutante went to the track and galloped an easy mile and an eighth. Cherie said she was a handful and appears to be bouncing back from whatever was bugging her fine. We should have the results of the tests we took back sometime tomorrow.

Sumwonlovesyou appears better and will have her hoof bandage changed again tomorrow.

The real Kickin will work on Thursday or Friday depending on the weather.

Aldebutante under the weather

Aldebutante will not make the trip to Saratoga this week for her debut. She has been a little lethargic and has been having some stomach issues which have been bothering her this week. Her coat has faded an bit and is looking a little dull and she may have a virus of some kind that is effecting her. She still has an appetite and has not had a fever but is not quite right and it simply is not the right time to press the issue. She is a good horse and we need to go into her first race firing 100% on all cylinders which she just isnt right now. We are going to do some tests on Monday to try to identify the problem and keep her in light training until we understand the issue better.

Sunwonlovesyou has a strep virus in her foot and we have switched to Baytril (an antibiotic) which is perscribed to treat this. She is comfortable on that foot and we are going to change her foot bandage today.

Kickin N Screamin continues to train great, working in 49 yesterday at Arlington. She is scheduled to run on the 11th at AP in a $25000NW3lt on the grass. Though I would prefer to race her on the polytrack, the grass race fits her best and it isn't like she hasn't done well on turf before.

Rampillion is training right along and the 20th at Turfway looks like a strong posibility.

Thursday, August 14, 2008

Possible date

September 20th going 6 furlongs for maiden $15000 at Turfway Park for Rampillion. September 11th going 1 1/16th on the turf for $25000 NW3lt at Arlington Park for Kickin N Screamin.

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Aldebutante on course

Aldebutante worked well this morning going five furlongs in company with Mercury Rising at Churchill Downs. She broke off a few lengths behind Mercury Rising at the start of the work, caught him passing the 3/8ths pole, stayed beside him past the 1/4 pole and gradually drew away from him in the stretch, getting the 5 furlongs in 101.80 and galloping out in 12.40 which gets her six furlongs in 114.20. She will have a four furlong blowout a few days before the race on the 24th and a little more gate and paddock schooling but the main part of her work has been completed.

Rampillion worked a nice half mile in 50 seconds in company with Graphite Halo. She switched leads right on time and finished up well down the lane against the other filly who towers over her. It was a good work for her and she will go another 4 furlongs next week. She will do a bit of gate training but she has been very good there and has her gate card already. A Turfway start in September looms as a possibility.

Kickin N Screamin came back from her work in good shape and galloped well today. The new Arlington Park condition book will be coming out shortly and we can plan on her next race after that is released.

Sumwonlovesyou has an abscess in her right foot that has required some serious work on it. we have put a special shoe on her, drilled some holes to promote the drainage and put her on some strong antibiotics. Hopefully this will do the trick and clear up the abscess once and for all.

Weekend at AP

Kickin N Screamin worked quite well yesterday at Arlington Park. She went in 48.20 which was a very good move for her though the track may have been a little tighter than usual due to some rain early Saturday morning. She cooled out fine and looks really good right now. She is maintaining her weight well and seems very content with herself. We will still pass the upcoming race on the 16th and await something a few weeks afterwards.

Aldebutante is doing fine and will work later this week, most likely going four furlongs and galloping out an extra eighth. Depending on weather, Friday may be the day.

Rampillion will work 4 furlongs this week also. She is starting to get stronger and has been training a little better, not getting quite so tired.

Sumwonlovesyou is still hampered by her foot issues.

Paula and I were lucky enough to spend the weekend at Arlington for the Million for the 1st time. It was a great experience and Arlington did a very good job with the event (except for my nachos which still haven't arrived). There were a bunch of DT'ers led by GBbob, Scavs, Philski, Swap Fliparoo, Brock Guy, Satans Twin, Brian W Spenser and Bogey among others. Bob with help from Scavs scored us a great box for Saturday and was a super host as usual plus we had a good time Friday at the twilight card as well. Highlights include seeing my friend 24, Albin getting his gate card, Ships Cabin not bolting, Kickins work, BWS hitting a big pick 4, me actually winning money on Saturday, lots of food especially at the local Italian place, meeting Scavs potential women, and seeing cover band groupies for the first time. For those who have never been, Million weekend is a good time.

Todays works

Makutus and Aldebutante worked well in company this morning at Churchill Downs. The track as usual was very slow and deep despite the temperatures early in the morning being quite reasonable. The pair broke off on even terms going past the 5/8ths pole with Cherie on Aldebutante and Kenny Wirth on Makutus, who can often be tough to handle. They stayed together throughout the work and hit the wire moving at a brisk pace. Makutus galloped out stronger than the filly but he has been working longer and further than she has and is a talented if unlucky three year old. Aldebutante was visibly winded after the work and has tucked up (lost weight) from the heat and from the fact that she has grown taller over the last six weeks. Makutus is being pointed to a one mile maiden special weight race on the 23rd at Arlington Park while Aldebutante is shooting for the following day's races at Saratoga.

Rampillion and Graphite Halo worked out of the gate together in 39.60. They broke very well and worked together around the turn which is the way Churchill's gate is situated. Both broke sharp enough to get their gate cards and we can move ahead with getting them fit and ready for the races. Rampillion is being pointed towards Turfway Park or Kentucky Downs while Graphite Halo is looking at Belmont's fall meet for her debut.

Kickin n Screamin is doing well since her race and is scheduled to have an easy work on Saturday morning.

Sumwonlovesyou has an apparent stone bruise which is delaying her training once again. Talk about tough luck.

This Weeks Works

Aldebutante and Rampillion will both work on Thursday morning. Aldebutante will go 5 furlongs and Rampillion will go 3 furlongs from the gate.

Morning Works

Aldebutante and Mercury Rising worked four furlongs from the gate this morning at Churchill Downs. They both broke well and stayed together until just past the 1/4 pole when Cherie asked Aldebutante to pick it up and she accelerated away from the colt and finished up the work in 50. Mercury Rising wound up going in 51.2 and simply isn't in the same class as the filly. She will work 5 furlongs next week possibly in company with Makutus and though she wont make the Saratoga race on the 10th it wont be too much longer until she is ready

Rampillion and Graphite Halo worked together in 39 for 3 furlongs. They stayed together and finished up well and despite the time being a little slow, the work was something that we can build on. They will go a little quicker next week and then stretch out to 4 furlongs after that.

Works tomorrow

Aldebutante is going to work in that morning at CD, going 4 furlongs from the gate in company with Mercury Rising. I dont believe that we are going to make the race on the 10th with the filly as she simply hasnt done enough to be ready for a Saratoga maiden. I would like to get 2 more works into her at 5 furlongs after tomorrows work and that puts us looking for something around the 20th. Rampillion is going to work 3 furlongs again in company with Graphite Halo. She has done some gate work this week and did well.

Sumwonlovesyou has been going on the Aqua Pacer and being turned out at night and is doing well.

Kickin is doing great

Looking good

Aldebutante and Rampillion came out of their works in good order and Kickin looks fine as well.

Kickin in good shape, works...

Kickin N Screamin came out of her race in good shape. She has been eating, her weight is good and her legs are cold and tight. There is a race that suits her well on August 16th but we may choose to wait a bit longer than three weeks in between starts. The race is a $25000 NW3LT going 1 1/16th on the polytrack. I would say at this time I am about 50/50 on running her back. Let's see how she trains before we make any decisions. We will have to find a new jockey because Jose Velez is relocating to Monmouth Park.

Aldebutante worked this morning at Churchill beach. She went in 50.60 in hand under Cherie and I told her not to let her do more than that because the track was so deep and tiring. Apparently water for the track isn't in the budget. She galloped out very well which is not surprising considering how easily she worked. We are planning on working out of the gate on Friday. That will be a big work because it will be the last strong work before she runs. We cant afford to miss any days or have any setbacks if we are going to make a race on the 10th.

Rampillion worked 3 furlongs in 37 seconds which was a pretty good move. Going in company with Graphite Halo, Rampillion started off well and finished up good despite the deep conditions. She was pretty winded afterwards but cooled out in good condition. She will also work on Friday going 3 furlongs once again.

Sumwonlovesyou is heading to Bluegrass Equine Center on Monday.

Nice run by Kickin

Kickin n Screamin ran a good 2nd today in the 4th race at Arlington Park. The race which was scratched down to a five horse field, had very little early speed which put Kickin at a distinct disadvantage with her late running style. There were no fireworks in the paddock this time as TC's time spent schooling her paid off. Kickin N Screamin under jockey Jose Velez sat in fourth place on the rail behind a tepid pace set by the eventual winner Stage Glitter who led in fractions of 24.4, 49.2 and 1:14.2 which is especially slow considering a great deal of it is run down the long chute at Arlington. She made a bid along the inside turning for home but Stage Glitter had too much left after the slow pace and we wound up 4 lengths behind the winner while almost 3 lengths clear of the third place finisher. All in all it was a good showing against open claimers after having competed in conditioned races since we claimed her. The new condition book is due any day and hopefully we can find a similar spot for her next time. Click for a chart of todays race.

Aldebutante received her gate card at CD Wednesday morning. She broke alertly though she still needs to spend more time schooling and settling down while inside the gate.

There have been quite a few new partners that have joined us lately and I want to thank them for being involved and hope they have as good a time as everyone else has since we began our little venture. Please feel free to contribute here or on the board and don't be afraid to ask questions, we will do our best to answer them.

Sundays Works

Aldebutante and Rampillion both worked this morning, albeit in far different manners. Rampillion worked a slow half mile in company with Inky Blanford. Inky was acting rank before the work and as a result both horses wound up breaking off very slow. Rampillion did everything right, switching leads and finishing her last quarter in about 25 seconds. She will do some gate work this week when she gets over to Churchill.

Aldebutante worked very well while in company with Jacques Sparrow, a Ten Most Wanted colt. She was outside of him going to the pole and stayed there under a tight hold by Cherie until they reached the top of the stretch. Cherie tapped her once on the shoulder with the whip and Aldebutante responded by accelerating past the colt and finishing strong right through the wire. She was about 5 lengths clear at the finish in 48.20 and galloped out nicely in 103 for 5 furlongs. Afterwards she was a bit winded but it was very hot so that could be a factor. She will do some gate schooling this week and may work out of the gate again next week.

Kickin N Screamin in at AP

Kickin N Screamin drew post number 2 in a field of 8 fillies and mares in the 4th race at Arlington Park on Thursday July 24th. The race is an $18000 claiming race going 1 mile on the polytrack will be contested at the one turn mile layout, running out of the chute. There doesn't appear to be a whole lot of pace which hurts but very few of these fillies are on top of their game right now and Kickin seems to be improving. I don't have the thorograph numbers yet but I know her last number was by far her best and she worked really well in preparation for this. We may be a bit underrepresented at Arlington as Steve will be busy (understatement obviously) and Scavs will be midway through his Southwestern American tour but anyone who is going be sure to let me know and we will be sure to make sure that you are accommodated.
PP's for the race

Kickins tune up

Kickin N Screamin worked a nice 4 furlongs this morning going 48.60 which was 16th out of the 48 horses that worked the distance. TC brought her out early, hitting the track just before 6 am to try to beat the heat. With exercise rider Willie Dunn up, she worked very well under a strong hold, galloping out with good energy. TC reported that she returned to the barn in great shape and cooled out fine. She has been holding her weight and the paddock accident seems to be behind us now. Kickin will school in the paddock again before she races again though she has done well there since the incident.

Aldebutante and Rampillion will work Sunday at CDT and move over to CD on Monday or Tuesday with the rest of the stable due to CDT being closed this summer for renovations.

Kickin n Screamin schools

Kickin N Screamin schooled in the paddock today at Arlington Park and did fine. TC mentioned that she was a little antsy when she first came into the paddock but settled down nicely afterwards. This was the second time we have schooled her in the paddock since her incident. The race on the 24th looks like it will be our next start with her.

Aldebutante galloped well this morning and is scheduled to work on Sunday, going a half mile and galloping out 5 furlongs. She will most likely go in company with Colonel Klink and/or Jacques Sparrow. We are on course for Saratoga and the races on the 10th of August are a good possibility.

Rampillion is also dong well and will work this coming weekend, most likely in company with Operetta Italiano going 3 furlongs once again. A September start at Turfway Park is our goal at the moment though Mountaineer, Charles Town, Presque Isle, etc. are still possibilities.

Sumwonlovesyou's arrival at Bluegrass Equine Center has been delayed due to her passing a small piece of gravel though her hoof. I was reluctant to move her until the abscess has settled down a bit. It is not a big issue and she will most likely move this weekend.

Aldebutante and Rampillion's works

Aldebutante and Rampillion both worked this morning at CDT. Under perfect weather of sunny skies and a temperature of 65 degrees, both fillies did well while being asked to perform different tasks. Aldebutante worked from the gate with two other horses, breaking from the inside post under Cherie. She broke alertly, sharp enough to cause Cherie to briefly lose her iron and as such they wound up a few lengths behind the other two. She rated nicely while in behind, taking dirt in her face with no issues. Cherie asked her to pick it up down the lane and Aldebutante responded, gaining ground to the wire and finishing about 1 length behind Colonel Klink. She galloped out well and cooled out in good shape. Aldebutante was timed in 50 for the work.

Rampillion worked 3 furlongs in company with Operetta Italiano which was their first work together. Rampillion hadn't worked since early June and we weren't looking for much time wise from her. Breaking off inside the other filly, she handled the turn fine and the fillies stayed together right to the wire. She was timed in 38 for the 3 furlongs, galloping out in 52 for 4 furlongs.
The above photos are Rampillion under tack and Aldebutante in the shedrow and were taken this morning by Benny Leger

Kickin N Screamin back to work

Kickin n Screamin worked an easy half mile yesterday at AP in 53.60. In her first work since her paddock mishap, she broke off in a gallop and finished up down the lane galloping out in 106. We weren't looking for much more than that as we want to keep her fresh and were just knocking the edge off of her. The next possibilities for races are the 24th of July at AP going 1 mile for 18000 or July 26th at AP going 1 1/16th in 25000 claiming company. Jose Velez will ride her in either spot. Though I would prefer to keep her on the polytrack I will run in any race where she fits and has a chance in.

Aldebutante and Rampillion are going to work on Monday morning, weather permitting. Aldebutante is scheduled to work from the gate but Rampillion is not quite ready for that step. Realistically I would think that Rampillion may be ready to run at the end of the Ellis Park meet or more likely at Turfway Park in September. There is also the possibility of her making a start at Kentucky Downs, running up and down the hills.

Sumwonlovesyou will move Wednesday to Bluegrass Equine Center. I saw her on Wednesday and she looks great.

Aldebutante's work

Aldebutante worked 4 furlongs in 50.40 this morning at CDT. She served as a pacesetter for another horse, Albin, that was working 5 furlongs and needed to work behind horses. With Cherie aboard, she broke off smoothly, going the first 1/4 mile in an easy 26.30 under a tight hold. She switched leads right on cue and actually spurted away from Ablin a bit straightening out down the stretch. She went the last 1/4 in 24.10 while still under a hold and galloped out well as Albin got by her after the wire while working the extra furlong, and she wanted to chase him. She came back to the barn on her toes, was not really winded and cooled out fine. She will do some more gate work this week and may work from the gate next weekend, depending on the new starting gate schedule. Aldebutante has been very good in the gate, both going in and coming out. She is doing really well and there are a few races in the Saratoga book that look interesting for her.

Rampillion 'two minute licked'under Ryan this morning. She said that she picked up speed on cue and enjoyed going faster than normal. Rampillion was a little sloppy with her lead changes but that is mostly due to inexperience. We will probably work her an easy 3 furlongs next weekend.

Sumwonlovesyou will be leaving Arundel for BEC later in the week. She will start on the Aqua Pacer and have some more turnout time in between sessions. This is the next step in the process of her recovery and it is a big one. If she has no issues with her leg after a period of time in the Aqua Pacer combined with hyperbaric oxygen treatment she will go back to the track sometime in August.

Kickin n Screamin went back to the track today and looked like she has no lingering issues from her fall in the paddock the other day. I briefly looked over the condition book at AP but haven't come up with a plan until we gallop her a little and see where she is physically.

Kickin looking good

TC reports this morning that Kickin N Screamin seems to have no issues due to her fall in the paddock yesterday. She walked fine this morning and will start training again on Sunday. Aldebutante and Rampillion are scheduled to work tomorrow morning weather permitting.

Bad day at AP

When we started Dee Tee Stable one of our hopes was to allow people to experience the "experiences" of owning a racehorse and all that it entails. Unfortunately today was one of those experiences that you wish you didn't have to experience. As I'm sure you know by now Kickin N Screamin was very fractious in the saddling area and wound up rearing up, slipping and falling onto her side. Though she wasn't seriously injured, just some scrapes and bruises, the track vet scratched her which was absolutely the correct call. She has had her issues in the paddock before and today was most likely simply bad luck on our part. She schooled yesterday in the paddock and did fine but apparently she is smart enough to know the difference between practice and the real thing. TC and our vet went over her and didn't find anything serious. She will have a couple of easy days before she goes back into serious training. If she looks okay after a few days, we will start looking for a substitute race for her. I feel terrible for the people that traveled for the race and I admit I was so disappointed I didn't even stay to watch the race. But the good thing is that she doesn't appear to be injured and will live to fight another day.

Sunday morning...

Aldebutante worked this morning at CDT, going 3/8ths in 37.4. Breaking off a little less than 1/8th of a mile before the pole she switched leads smoothly, was under a snug hold by Cherie and finished up well. She does everything effortlessly which is a really good sign. Horses that look like they are working really hard usually are, while horses that seem to do things easily are usually very efficient in their action. It doesn't not guarantee that she will be a star but there are very few horses that labor in their work that turn out to be really good horses. She is ready to go a half mile and has been doing quite a bit of gate schooling also. Cheries comment after the work was "does she look as good as she feels?". So far, "Yes she does".

Kickin N Screamin drew into a tough field for a condition claiming race. We got the rare 'double spin' at the draw and wound up with Jesse Campbell riding. The race doesn't seem to have the pace one would think that a one turn mile would usually have. Unfortunately that is the way things happen sometimes in horse racing. Campbell is a good replacement for Velez and she is coming into the race in really good shape and should be ready to fire her best shot. Hopefully she gets a clean trip and runs well. I think she fits with these horses and with her best we will be right there.

Sumwonlovesyou will be going to Bluegrass Equine Center later in the week to start the first phase of her training. I will be sure to get pictures posted.

Rampillion 'two minute licked' this morning under recent McCarron jockey school graduate Matt Straight, who just started riding as a 10 pound apprentice. She galloped well, switched her leads right on time and was a happy camper coming home. A 'two minute lick' is a strong gallop where the goal is to go each 1/8th of mile in 15 seconds, going a mile at that clip in 2 minutes. She will do that a few more times before we work her again.

Monday, June 23, 2008

Monday

Aldebutante came out of her work in good order. She went to the starting gate today to school and did well, going into and out of the gate fine. She will jog 6 furlongs and gallop 1 1/4 on both Tuesday and Wednesday and will gallop and school in the gate again on Thursday. She is scheduled to work again on Saturday, going 3 furlongs again. She will work alone because I don't want her to get too locked on and breeze too fast. Once she is working 4 and 5 furlongs we will put her in some company again. Rampillion is jogging 6 furlongs and galloping 1 3/8 and will do so all week though she may too go to gate school on Thursday and may not gallop quite as much that day.

Sunday, June 22, 2008

Aldebutante works

Aldebutante had her first official work this morning, going 3 furlongs in 37. Cherie had a tight hold on her throughout and was really pleased with how she was covering the ground. Aldebutante was blowing a bit after pulling up but quickly recovered while cooling out. She will do some gate work this week and will work another 3 furlongs next Saturday. If all goes well she should be moving on to half miles and gate works after that.

TC reports that Kickin n Screamin came out of her work in good order. Rampillion galloped nicely and should resume working soon.

Saturday, June 21, 2008

Kickin N Screamin

Kickin N Screamin worked an easy 5 furlongs this morning at Arlington Park. She went in 103 under a good hold from Jose Velez, Jr. She cooled out quickly and looked fine afterwards. She will probably get a few strong gallops before her race on July 3rd but will not likely work again.

Aldebutante had her work delayed a day by a heavy track after rains in Louisville yesterday. She will work 3 furlongs tomorrow around 8:30. She schooled in the gate yesterday and did well. Hopefully we can get an official gate work into her around the 10th of July. We are still pointing for the second week at Saratoga though that may be pushed back a week depending on what the condition book looks like. I don't want to start her out further than 6 furlongs and they may not have the correct race exactly when we want to run. Rampillion galloped well today and will be ready to breeze (work) in about 10 days. Someonelovesyou is really doing well reports the farm. She will be heading over to the rehab center as soon as it is able to take her which may be as soon as 2 weeks.

Aldebutante and Rampillion

Aldebutante is doing well in her training and is scheduled to work 3 furlongs on Saturday. The cut by her foot has healed slowly but should not be an issue moving forward. Because she has missed some time we are not looking for a particularly quick work from her but something steady. Rampillion has resumed galloping and her splint does not appear to be an issue any longer. Kickin is doing well and is a go for the 3rd of July at Arlington. Sumwon is also doing fine.

Kickin n Screamin

Worked well yesterday at Arlington. Jose Velez worked her and thought she went very well. She remains on course for July 3rd.

July 3rd

$25000 nw3lt going 1 mile on the polytrack for Kickin n Screamin at AP.

Rampillion's splint

Rampillion had her splint 'freeze fired' this morning. The procedure is simple, effective and quick. It involves cryogenics using liquid nitrogen to "freeze" the area around the splint. Initially it will cause some minor swelling but that quickly dissipates and the splint begins to shrink as it heals. We use mepivacaine to numb the area so the horse feels no pain. The procedure is similar to using cryogenics to remove skin lesions or warts. She will walk until Thursday when she will go back to the track to jog for a week.

Saturday, June 7, 2008

Rampillion works, etc.

Rampillion had her first official workout this morning going 3 furlongs in 39.60. She worked in company with her regular work partner, Graphite Halo, and was on the rail during the work. They went the quarter in 26.2 and finished the last 1/8th in 13. She was a bit winded afterwards but it is really hot in Louisville, even at 6:45 in the morning. Her splint doesn't seem to bother her right now but we may go ahead and freeze it before it becomes an issue. She will only miss about 3 or 4 days of training after the procedure which has a very high success rate.

Aldebutante's cuts are still pretty raw and we have delayed doing anything serious with her until they have healed up a bit more.

Kickin n Screamin worked 1/2 mile in 51.40 this morning at Arlington. We weren't looking for much, just wanting to let her stretch her legs a bit. In about 10 days or so we will work her another half mile or 5 furlongs and start to look for a race for her.

I visited Sumwonlovesyou this past week but honestly just saw her galloping through the field in a driving rainstorm. She looked great in what I was able to see.

Saturday, May 31, 2008

Rampillion's work

Rampillion worked a quarter mile in 27 seconds in company with a Mizzen Mast 2 year old filly named Graphite Halo. She was on the inside of the other filly and went without any problems other than both fillies being a little rank starting off. They stayed head and head for the short work and galloped out in 41 seconds for 3 furlongs. Time is not especially important in these early works, just teaching the horses how to properly work is the main goal. She cooled out fine and will go 3 furlongs next week providing we make it through the week unscathed.

Aldebutante's cuts looked better this morning. There was no sign of infection though there is still a little swelling associated with the scratches. As long as she heals well she shouldn't miss much time. The setbacks probably will prevent her from making a start at Churchill as we simply may run out of time and don't need to rush her. Saratoga would be the next logical plan for her. Rampillion will also probably not make Churchill but Saratoga is not in her plans. She would most likely run at tracks like Ellis Park, Arlington Park, Presque Isle, or even Colonial. Benny Leger was on hand to see the work and examine Aldebutante's injury and we even put him to work a little holding Starry Knight in the ice tub.

I am going to see Sumwonlovesyou on Tuesday and if everything is good we are planning on bringing her back to the track on July 1st. Kickin is doing fine though I am really leaning towards skipping the race on the 12th and giving her a little more time.

Friday, May 30, 2008

Aldebutante's work rescheduled

Aldebutante scratched up her pastern last night and will not work in the morning. The cut is not serious and requires no stitches but there is a little swelling that will keep us from breezing her tomorrow. If we avoid any issues she should be ok to go back to the track on Monday and maybe work at the end of the week. Rampillion is still scheduled to breeze a quarter mile in company around 7:20.

Thursday, May 29, 2008

This weekend

Aldebutante and Rampillion may work this weekend. Aldebutante will be working 3 furlongs and Rampillion would be going 2 furlongs. More details as they come available

Sunday update

Kickin n Screamin has come out of her race in good shape. She did lose a little weight but that is normal, especially for her. We have ponied her (jogged without a rider) a few times just to get her out of the barn to get some exercise. I am tentatively planned to run her back on the 12th but there is a chance that we will give her a bit more time also. We have to see how she responds the next few weeks in training and getting that weight back. Her best races seem to be when she has had time between starts and we do have to keep that in mind.

Aldebutante is doing well after her foot issue. She is back into a regular training routine and will most likely work next weekend, probably going 3 furlongs. She has really grown tall the last 6 weeks and is still developing physically, probably quicker in that respect than mentally. Actually she is well behaved outside the stall and on the track but inside the stall she is a another story. We have placed a chi machine inside her stall in an attempt to get her to relax a bit. It is a machine that emits sound and pulse waves to get the body's electromagnetic fields in order.

"The Chi Machine will aid in unblocking the Chi pathways and ensure a maximum flow of this healing source through all body organs, to restore normal or improved functioning to impaired organs and body systems related to such organs. The Chi Machine allows the Chi energy to flow naturally thereby creating spiritual, physical, mental and emotional strength, health, fitness and wellness.
Some people perceive the presence of Chi more easily than others, but the ability to perceive it is inherent in all of us. Once the Chi Machine stops, almost everyone feels a rush of Chi flow through their body."

I don't know if any of this actually happens but it does seem to keep her calmer in her stall. We have also added a few pints of Guinness to her feed in a more traditional attempt to take the edge off.

Rampillion is also doing well after a few minor issues, mostly of her own doing. She may also work next weekend, though probably at a quarter mile. She has also grown noticeably, though not quite as much as Aldebutante.

Sumwonlovesyou continues to do well while turned out. I am planning on bringing her to my farm when we have proper fencing and start her on a rehab program of hyperbaric oxygen treatments and shock wave therapy and start training her on the aquatred. Hopefully she is able to come back to full racetrack training by the summer. For a link to the farm click on http://www.bluegrassec.com/ .

Finally...

Well as I'm sure you know by now Kickin n Screamin finally broke Dee Tee Stable's maiden. It has been a long journey from when Hooves called me to ask what I thought about the idea of Derby Trail getting a horse to the winners circle on Saturday afternoon. However the wait makes you appreciate the victory that much more especially after the close calls with both Sumwon and Kickin. There was a strong turnout of Dee Tee partners from around the country as well as the hometown Arlington guys which was great. Scavs (Tom) did his usual fine job in hosting the group, securing three nice boxes, and was "having a very good day" (except at the Meadowlands). TC has done great job in fiddling with the filly, keeping her happy, getting her to eat, maintaining her weight and it showed up in the performance on Saturday. Jose Velez rode a good race, didn't force the issue with her and move too soon, saved enough ground on the 2nd turn and rode her hard down the stretch. A few partners were able to find the time to visit the barn which is always fun. Heels even brought evidence that I once had a little athletic ability, though it was long ago. Paula and I had a great time seeing everyone again and meeting people we hadn't met in person before. Though we didn't get much luck on Sunday with GBBob's horse, it was still a great weekend and we look forward to many more.

I did want to say thanks to all the people who called that I have not been able to get back to. Both Steve and I appreciate the kind words that many have expressed on the occasion of our first winner.

Now we can look forward to her next race which tentatively a $25000 NW3L on June 12 at Arlington going 1 1/16th on the polytrack. You may be thinking, "Didn't we just run for $32000? Why would we drop her off of a win?" The fact is that the condition is more important than the price for these types of races. Since Arlington doesn't run a NW3L for a price higher than $25000 our options are limited but this is the next logical spot for the filly. The likelihood of her being claimed for the $25000 are pretty slim and she would have a much better chance of winning in that class than in an open claiming race. She is not the type of horse that is easy to ship and run so I would prefer for now to keep her at Arlington, especially since she seems to like the surface. We are pointing to the June 12 race but there is still a long time until that race and if she doesn't bounce back sufficiently we will give her a bit more time as she seems to run well when her races are spaced out.

Aldebutante has managed to injure herself once again. Before you panic, it is not serious but is something that needs to be taken care of properly so there are no lingering issues. She got a small piece of metal lodged in the area by her quarter in her foot. Cherie had the blacksmith remove the object which had caused a small pocket to develop in that foot. We are soaking it to flush out anything potentially bad stuck up there and keeping her foot wrapped. She will miss a few days of training while we wait for the area to dry out and it is still a little tender also. This is not a big problem but it needs to be 'put to bed' so to speak before we do much serious training with her. The biggest worry in the foot area besides infection is a weakening of the area where the metal was lodged turning into a quartercrack. I will update everyone on her condition in a few days when we can tell more about how it is healing.

Rampillion is back training regularly after her fight with the wheelbarrow. I plan on doing a little something with her (1/4 mile) this weekend. She is growing noticeably and is starting to mature, at least physically. We will start doing more gate work with her before she is too fit.

I am planning on visiting Sumwonlovesyou on Thursday and since Scavs returned the camera, I will try to get some pictures and post them on the board.

Saturday at AP

Kickin n Screamin drew post #1 in the 4th race at Arlington Park on Saturday. She will be ridden by Jose Velez, Jr. rather than James Graham who wound up on a different mount. I believe that it is immaterial since Velez has a style of riding that suits her fine. The race is a 7 horse field and there are no standouts, we seem to fit in well. We are 5-1 on the morning line which is fair considering our last 2 races. The ML favorite is a horse that is making it's polytrack debut second off of the claim from Dutrow. There are supposed to be a bunch of DT'ers in attendance, if the weather hold out, should be a good time.

Aldebutante will have her 1st 3 furlong work on Friday morning, weather permitting. She has been training really well and is ready for a real work. We aren't looking for anything fast, probably in the 38 range. Rampillion has popped a small splint which we are going to treat tomorrow morning with a shockwave session. She shouldn't miss much time, maybe a few days of light training.

Sumwon continues to do well while turned out. I am going to visit her next week and will take some pictures if Scavs gives me my camera back.

Kickin and Aldebutantes works

Kickin n Screamin worked an easy 1/2 mile in 50.2 this morning at AP. Under the watchful eyes of Scavs and GB Bob, she put in her last bit of serious work before her return to the races next week. We will be entering her in the $32000 nw2 LT race on the polytrack next Saturday. James graham is scheduled to ride.

Aldebutante worked a quarter mile in company with 2 other horses this morning at Trackside training center. She was timed in 26.2 for the 1/4 and galloped out 3/8ths in 40. She was not asked to run and was inside of the other 2, trying to get her some experience. Cherie was impressed with the way she handled everything and with the ease of her stride.

Rampillion had an encounter with a wheelbarrow and scratched up her hind legs which didn't allow us to work her this morning but the scrapes are not serious and she will do something next week.

Arundel reports that Sumwonlovesyou has been moved to a 2 acre grass paddock and is moving well and they have not seen any negatives from her.

A good sign?

Kickin n Screamin worked in 47.20 this morning over the polytrack at Arlington. TC reports that she was never asked till the final 1/8th and finished up well, galloping out 6 furlongs in 113. TC said that he didn't think she was going that fast and was surprised when the clockers told him the time. She seems like she is rounding back into form, carrying a little more weight, and just generally doing better.

Aldebutante came out of her work in good shape.

Aldebutante and other matters

Aldebutante stretched her legs a bit this morning, working a 1/4 mile in 27 seconds with Cherie in the saddle. We weren't looking for much speed, just an easy work to let her get used to the track, breaking off when the rider asks, etc. She galloped out four furlongs and was not blowing much walking off the track. After getting a bath she cooled out quickly and posed for pictures from the Dee Tee faithful present for the morning activities. Scavs, Bigs, Pdrift, Mumtaz and the Hooves family as well as Kasept all woke up early to watch from the rail.

Rampillion has arrived at Keeneland for those that didn't see the pictures in the thread on the Dee Tee page on the website. She will jog a little this weekend and start serious training on Monday.

Kickin N Screamin will work four furlongs tomorrow morning at Arlington Park. She is doing well and is on course for the 17th. James Graham may ride.

Sumwonlovesyou continues to do well and may graduate to a larger paddock this week.

Update

Kicking N Screamin worked well this morning at Keeneland. She was under a snug hold throughout and was well within herself during the work. TC reported that she was blowing pretty good afterwards which is expected since she has had a lot of down time since her last race. She will be leaving for Arlington on Tuesday morning. There is a race on the 17th which is a $32000 NW2Lt going 1 1/16th on the polytrack which looks like a logical spot.

Aldebutante had a area of swelling on her neck, which may have been caused by a needle used to give her some fluids the other day, that caused her to miss two days of training. She appears fine now and will resume trackwork tomorrow.

Rampillion is scheduled to arrive in Kentucky on Thursday morning. More details to follow.

Sumwonlovesyou has done well in her small round pen and will be moved to a larger paddock next week.

Aldebutante arrives in KY...

Aldebutante arrive at Barn G at Trackside (Churchill Down Training Center) this morning at 6:30 am. She was alert and bright and seemed to be in good order after the long ship. She will walk the shedrow tomorrow and will go to the track Monday morning for some exercise. Kenny did his usual fine job with her and she looks great, as do the others that came from him.

Rampillion has had a few strong gallops and is ready to have her first official work of 1/4 mile soon. She is scheduled to arrive in KY toward the end of April and will initially go to Keeneland.

Kickin N Screamin was thoroughly examined by Dr. Begue who diagnosed some irritation in her right stifle. He did not think it was serious and she had a shockwave treatment on the area to stimulate healing. She is going to pony on the training track at Keeneland for a few days and will be re-evaluated next week.

Someonelovesyou moved to Arundel yesterday and will be turned out in a small sand round pen on Monday. We will graduate her to the larger paddocks soon after.

Kickin, Sumwonlovesyou, Aldebutante and Rampillion...

Kickin N Screamin arrived this morning at Keeneland in good order. She was a little drained from the long ride, especially after running on Tuesday, but that is to be expected. There are a few different options that I am looking at for her. In no particular order, River Downs has a $25000 NW3 LT going 1 1/16th on the turf on May 6th. Arlington Park has a 32500 NW2 going 1 1/16th on the poly on May 17th and a 17500 NW2 going 1 mile on the 8th (one turn mile). Indiana Downs has a 15000 NW2 going 1 mile on the turf on the 17th and an NW1x allowance on the 9th going 1 mile. Keeneland has a $30000 NW2 going 1 1/16th on the poly on the 23rd. I have no plans for her at the moment and will see how she is doing and fully evaluate her before picking a next race. I know some people were talking about cutting her back in a turf sprint but there really aren't many options available for that kind of race during the spring.

Sumwonlovesyou is going to move to Arundel Farm in Paris, KY this week. The reason for moving her is that Arundel has several smaller paddocks that are in a quiet area where she can be turned out. We will reevaluate her after about 2 weeks of being turned out and move on from there. If anyone is going to be at Keeneland or in for the Derby and wants to visit, just contact Steve or I and we will make arrangements. www.arundelfarm.com

Aldebutante continues to impress Kenny in her training. She is scheduled to arrive in Louisville sometime around the 15th depending on the van companies availability. She will go to the Churchill Downs Training Center, about 10 minutes from Churchill, to acclimate to racetrack life with the majority of my 2 year olds. Rampillion will be coming up from Texas toward the end of the month and will probably wind up at the training center also though there is a chance she may go to Keeneland until after the Derby. Same as for Sumwonlovesyou, anyone in town interested in visiting contact myself or Steve. If things go as planned (which is rare) Aldebutante may have a workout Derby week that partners and friends can go and watch.

I have said this before but I want all of you to know that both Steve and I appreciate every ones patience and support in getting this venture off the ground. What started off as a bit of a shot in the dark (thanks to hooves who was crazy enough to come up with the idea) has turned into a great group of people having fun following their own little stable. I am grateful for the opportunity to have met so many nice people and made so many new friends. Thanks again.

Kickin N Screamin on Tuesday

We drew post position number 5 in the 7th race on Tuesday at Tampa. Posttime is 3:12 Eastern. She is coming to the race in good shape and I expect her to run really well. Win or lose she will be shipping to Kentucky on Wednesday, most likely heading to Keeneland.

Saturday update

Kickin n Screamin worked an easy 5 furlongs today on 105.6. We were not looking for speed, it was more of an open gallop type deal with her finishing up strong. I want to get back to the style that seemed to be most effective with her which was to sit and make one late run and we are also just trying to keep her fresh and wanting more. She has held her weight pretty well and looked good when I saw her last weekend. We are all set for the race on the 1st, Centeno is booked and we have a special date. If we can draw a good post position and keep it on the grass, we should be in great shape.

I watched Aldebutante train on Monday in Ocala. She galloped 1 1/4 miles in company with a Point Given filly named Appoint. She made a great impression under tack, moving easily and appearing very light on her feet. She has matured since I last saw her and Kenny seems very pleased with her progress. The filly has 2 minute licked a few times and is about ready to start breezing easy quarter miles. She is still a bit quirky in her stall and does not really appreciate much attention but is fine while on the track.

Rampillion is also doing well. Paul Harte was down to see her and his report is under the comments section of the previous update. She did kick my Phone Trick colt, causing him to need a few stitches but I am sure he wont be sniffing around her again. All the 2 year olds in Texas got a little sick and missed a bit of training but are fine now and back in full training.

I will make a trip this week to see Sumwonlovesyou and we will probably give her another shock wave treatment on her leg. She is hand walked 30 minutes a day and should be moved into a small paddock once the weather clears.

Update

Kickin N Screamin worked an easy 1/2 mile this morning in 51.1 at Tampa. We had taken it easy with her since the last race, with a lot of turnout time and some jogging and easy gallops. She worked fine and was eager throughout and when galloping out. The race on April 1st is a good fit and she will have 2 more works before that race. Daniel Centano is going to ride her back.

Sumwonlovesyou is hand walking 20 minutes a day and may get some turnout time by the end of the month.

Aldebutante has been doing some easy works, 1/4 miles in 30 seconds and things like that. Kenny reports that everything is moving forward with her. I am going to be in Ocala next weekend for the sales and will watch her train a few times.

Rampillion is still doing well. She along with a few of her barn mates got a little sick last week but they have recovered quickly. Partner Paul Harte will be visiting her this week and promises pictures.

Kickin and other things

Kickin n Screamin seemed to come out of her race in good order. We will wait for the next $50000 NW2LT before we run her back. Since we now have the special date in our favor we are guaranteed to get in the race we choose. Since there is nothing in the book and the fact that they chewed up the course a little when running the stake on the soft ground and may be wary of running too many turf races in the next few weeks, it could be a month until we run again or even into April. That would most likely be our final Tampa start and we have to start thinking about where she will be running this summer.

Someonelovesyou is doing fine out at the farm. She is being hand walked for 15 minutes a day and is undergoing shockwave treatment once a week for a few weeks. Her scans came back pretty good and hopefully she continues to improve. There is no timetable for her return to training but I would guess this summer (Mid May?) at the earliest.

Steve will be posting pictures of Aldebutante from his Sunday morning visit on the Derbytrail web site this week. She continues to train forwardly and is looking great.

Rampillion had her knees x rayed this week and they were still not closed and as such we will continue to take our time with her. She is galloping in sets and is doing everything well. Scott promised to take some pictures of her and send them up though I doubt his photographic skills are much better than mine (which means bad).

Kickin n Screamin post race report

Kickin n Screamin came out of her race in good shape. She was a bit tired which is to be expected as she tries really hard and the turf was a little soft which tends to take more out of horses than firmer turf. I would think that we will wait for a spot in roughly 30-40 days again as we want to continue to space her races out and let her recover fully before asking her to go again. With a little better trip I believe that we would have been second. She fits well in that class and with a bit of racing luck, we should be able to get her in the winners circle before the end of the meet down there.

Sumwonlovesyou is doing really well out at the farm. She may get some turnout time soon if her scans comeback good.

I went to Ocala on Monday to check the progress of my 2 year olds and I came away very happy with their status. The one who I was most pleased with was Aldebutante. She looks so much better and healthier than she did this fall that I was amazed. She has put on some muscle from training and matured quite a bit in the month since I saw her. Her coat is looking much better and her overall presense is outstanding. Kenny has moved her up in his training sets to go in company with the horses that have been training since early fall since she was doing everything so easily. There is still a stubborn streak in her but he feels that barring some unforseen injury like sore shins there is no reason that she wont race this summer. She reminds us both of a filly I bought 2 years ago that Kenny broke and got ready for the races called Genuine Devotion who was a stakes winner in NY last fall. She has the same stride, similar conformation and attitude that the other filly has. Hopefully she can match or exceed her on the track.

I spoke with Scott yesterday about Rampillion. He is pleased with her work and how she has been handling things. We are still taking it slow with her as to not have any more setbacks but she is going well at the moment.

Kickin n Screamin works

Kickin n Screamin worked 1/2 mile yesterday at Tampa in 50.60. She started off at an even clip and picked up the pace through the stretch under restraint from Rosemary Homeister who was aboard for the work. TC reports that she cooled out well and was in good shape this morning. The just released condition book shows a race for her under the same conditions as her last on January 29th going 1 1/16th on the grass. The race is on a Tuesday afternoon card and Rosie will ride her back. We may give her an easy work toward the end of the week but it may be too slow too even consider a timed work, something like 5 in 108, just to let her stretch her legs a bit.

I visited Sumwonlovesyou earlier this week at her current home in Shelbyville. She is sound and looks good, albeit a bit bored. We will scan her leg this week and try to get a better idea of how it is healing.

Good reports on both 2 year olds though there are few details to share. At this point in their training no news is the goal.

Kickin n Screamin post race report

Kickin N Screamin seems to have come out of her race in good shape. She has lost a bit of weight which is to be expected but otherwise is sound and happy. As Steve alluded to on Derby Trail, we are inclined to space her races out, trying not to squeeze her too much since she tends to be light. This means passing on the next race on the 15th to wait for the next race , most likely the first week of February. As always the partners that were in attendance were awesome and everybody seemed to enjoy the day despite the tough loss.

Sumwonlovesyou has been relocated to a friends farm in Shelbyville, Kentucky which is midway between Louisville and Lexington. She will be on stall rest for around 6 weeks before we reexamine her. I visited her on Monday and she seemed to be adjusting to her new surrounding nicely.

Aldebutante is doing well in Ocala. I was able to pay her a visit last week and was pleased with her development. She is growing in the right direction and her on track reports are good. (pics coming)

Rampillion's ankles have settled down and she will go back to full training later in the month.
