Sumwon in Saratoga
Sumwonlovesyou is doing well since her arrival in Saratoga. She has been galloping on the Oklahoma training track and has taken in her new surroundings in stride. We plan on working her tomorrow morning on the main track around 8:30-8:45. If anyone is planning on going to see the work you can meet up with other Dee Tee members around the winners circle at 8:20. We are located in barn 86 if you want to see her at the barn but please try to get there in the morning if possible.

I am not a trainer, but it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that this horse would run lights out at a shorter distance. 6 furlongs, 7 furlongs, could be the right move. thoughts?
There were more factors than distance
Shortening her up to 6f or 7f would put most of the field at her throat from the time the gate opens instead of having them chase her on a comfortable lead. She won't get an easy relaxed trip at 6f as they'll all be balls to the wall.
She's fine where she is as she's got tactical speed and that sets her up nice to get a distance. She'll get her wins against the right fields. But going shorter isn't the answer. Having a quality filly that can go 8f to 9f is like money in the bank and she's been a virtual ATM to this point. And if you don't understand the importance of earning checks when you race, then you've never owned a horse and had bills to pay.
I think it would be a good idea to let Chuck & Steve handle the decision making. They are the professionals. I hate Monday morning QB's.
There are hundreds of 3yo fillies that can run 83+ Beyers at 6 furlongs. There is a much smaller group that can run 83+ Beyers around two turns. So in addition to the pace scenario in a sprint not being to her liking she would also have to be 5-6 lengths better at a sprint just to be as competitive as she is at a route.
Sniper
With the exception of Sniper, how about people leave comments with your name attached to the comment? At least if I say something that ruffles everyone's feathers everyone knows who is making the comment!
If you have a comment to make to Chuck or Steve about Dee Tee, I know from firsthand experience that they would probably rather you send them an email or call them rather than posting it to the public forum.
