Welcome to Dee Tee Stable

Steve and I want to welcome all members of Dee Tee Stable to our new blog. What we hope to do is keep everyone informed about the doings at Dee Tee Stable and our horse/horses. Being that we only have one horse, Sumwonlovesyou, there wont be a whole lot of new information on a daily basis. However I promise to keep everyone in the loop about any pertinent information that may be available. We will also be posting pictures of the filly and of any members that send them in. If anyone has anything that they would like to see covered here please let me know. Please feel free to make comments or ask questions, that's why we have chosen the format that we have. Looking forward to hearing from and meeting everyone in the future.
Chuck

Hey Chuck,

Spyder from SC here. A question for you...how much notice will you be able to give us when you put Sumwon in a race so I can look at travelling plans?

Also, as I did, someone misspelled Sumwon on picture of new home

She looks good, Chuck, thanks for the good pics, can't wait to see her after you've had her a couple months! She get a little scraped up behind shipping?

How did you first notice this filly as a DT possible? See her in the morning, or hear she was going to be available, etc?

I, too, hope to catch a flight down to see her race, and meet the rest of you guys.

Spyder, I'll get on the commuter in Atlanta, and meet up with you :-)

I will try to give as much advance notice as possible. However sometimes it is beyond our control to exactly pin down a date because a race may not fill or an extra race is written without much notice.

Riot
Most of the things that I see wrong with her a pretty minor, a little heat in her hocks, she is favoring her left stifle ever so slightly, her lower joints in her knees are carrying a bit of pressure, etc. Mostly due to growing pains and maybe a little oversight. Many of these problems will be addressed and will go away on their own. As of now she does not need any medical care other than basic care.
I noticed her when she ran at Turfway going a mile and ran second. At the time we did not have the funds raised so when I saw that she was reentered for 20k in a race I had a horse in, I called Steve. Funny thing is that he had seen her and was interested in her because he was very familiar with her mare and her owners. She was the type of horse who I thought would fit this partnership well because she has shown some ability, is well bred and is sound. Being that we have quite limited funds I could not afford to make a mistake. I am really happy with her and taking a long term view, I believe that she has a lot improvement left in her.

Riot,

I'm prett serious about going and since I have a Delta $700 credit, I would go through Atlanta.

Just might work out...we'll see!

Well, all athletes have little things that have to be managed appropriately as they occur, that's the challange that makes one trainer a little better than another :-)

I watched her go through the ring on the net, the price zoomed up there with confident bids, I kinda had an idea what you guys were talking about spending and saw that price fly by ... I didn't know who was bidding (thought maybe there were two buyers and a rep bidding up to a reserve) ... so when they said the phone bid got it ...

Lets just say I won't try to ever go against you on a poker bluff :-)

You have more invested in this than all of us, plus the pleasure of doing it under a microscope of constant examination :-) I'm thrilled to be a part of this, and hope she recoups your own investment in DT Stables many times over.

Spyder, no directs from Lexington, am checking out of Cincinnati or Louisville, to connect in Atlanta!

Chuck and Steve:

Thanks so much for setting up this website for us partners.

Chuck - what are your immediate workout plans for our filly? Is she jogging and galloping on the track at Fair Grounds on a daily basis yet? Do you plan to start a routine of workouts every 7-10 days?

Thanks again and i hope this will give me an opportunity to get to know you a little better. I have started a separate partnership of my own with 3 other guys and we own a couple of NY Bred 3YO fillies who are at Mountianeer preparing for their debuts shortly. As our stable grows over time i would love to get a suitable horse to send to you...

Take care,

Paul Harte

Look forward to meeting you at Saratoga when i take my week vacation Aug 3-10th...

The bid that landed the filly was probably our last one. I was hoping to get her for $20k or less, was ok at $22k and was at our limit at 24k.

We have jogged the filly the past 2 days. She is a bit nervous and a little headstrong and we are working on getting her to do what we want her to do not what she wants to do. I will probably jog her until I'm satisfied that she is listening to her rider. I dont want to fight with her or just let her whip around the track. If she is going to be sucessful going longer distances and race on the turf, she will need to be a little more patient. Good luck with your fillies and hopefully we'll see them at Saratoga when we are up there.

LOL - headstrong ... lets hope that eventually translates into tenacity in the final sixteenth:-)

Thanks for the little details, Chuck, I'm very interested in how trainers work through different problems with their charges

Chuck:

I've been told that young fillies (two year olds and those that just turned three) are often immature and that "they haven't figured out that they are racehorses yet", or "it hasn't clicked yet". Do you find this statement to be true with many young fillies? If so, does it apply to Sumwonlovesyou?

Thanks.
